Our Guarantee

Here at Platte River Springers we guarantee that to the best of our knowledge your puppy is free of diseases, congenital, and genetic defects. We will not knowingly breed or sell puppies from parents that have a known hereditary deficiency. We further guarantee that an excessive effort is made to keep the puppy healthy and the living facilities clean. We guarantee your puppy until age one against any life threatening or significant quality of life altering, congenital or genetic birth defects.

At their first check up, our Veterinarian examines their ears, eyes, teeth, bite, heart, lungs, range of motion of joints, bone structure and overall health. Your puppy will be up-to-date on shots and will have been on a complete de-worming schedule.

We do NOT guarantee against coccidia or giardia, commonly occurring parasites in dogs and are known to be brought on by stress. If these are found during our fecal sample, we are happy to treat them with prescribed meds, and will send home documentation from the vet stating your pup was seen and treated.

We recommend that you have you puppy health checked by your Veterinarian, within 5 days of pickup, to confirm the health of your puppy.

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS

Our adoption Process begins with filling out and submitting the Adoption Application found below! This helps us to determine what you are looking for and also allows us to have better record keeping once our puppies are adopted.

Once the application is filled out and submitted we can add you to our waiting list. Given your preferences we can get you added to the right list and get you one step closer to choosing the right puppy for you!

OUR WAITING LIST

Once added to our list, you can place a $200 deposit if you choose to. Keep in mind, if you have not placed a deposit your picking order has not been secured. Our picking order is determined by the order deposits were placed and categorized by color/gender/litter preferences. You will be notified when we have an expectant litter, then once again when pregnancy is confirmed. We allow 2 deposits for each gender for each litter until the puppies are born and we know for sure what we have. If we do not have a puppy for you or a puppy of your liking, your deposit is transferrable to the next litter. If there are deposits placed for that specific litter already you will be placed in order after those individuals.

PICKING YOUR PUPPY

Once puppies are born we will accept deposits to fill the rest of the litter. Picking begins with the first individuals, we want you to take your time with picking as this will be a life long commitment for you! We like to have all of the puppy picks done by 6 weeks old. This will allow you the time to choose a puppy that will fit best with your needs and lifestyle. We will spend the last two weeks (6-8 weeks old) preparing the puppies for their new homes. We do weekly picture updates for new families. We also try to do videos too!

VISITING

We do allow visitors here at PRS!! As early as 3-4 weeks old, this allows the puppies to open their eyes and ears to become more aware of their surroundings. We do not allow other pets to visit, as any pet affected with parasites or viruses could infect our puppies or dogs as well. Contact us to schedule a date and time!

GETTING YOUR PUPPY!

By 6 weeks old we need to have a plan for how you will be getting your puppy. Whether its setting up a day and time for pick up, making arrangements for shipping-Those that need shipping will need to have this established earlier on so we can have all of our ducks in a row. :) We can also travel to meet you up to 2 hours away given that it is a good day for us to travel. We will not be able to travel on a day that we have many other pick ups planned. But we try to stay as flexible as possible! When you come to pick up you will need to be prepared to pay the remaining balance on your puppy, you can do so with cash or Venmo. You will leave with your AKC registration papers (limited or unlimited-NEED to be discussed prior to pick up, unlimited registration is priced differently). Health record, a zip-lock bag of food (Diamond Puppy) And....YOUR new puppy!!

NEW BEGINNINGS

Your journey truly begins the moment you are ready to leave with your puppy! Keep in mind that your puppy will not be fully vaccinated at this point and it is very important that you remain cautious of the places you visit with your puppy. At 8 weeks old your puppy will have only had 1 booster, vaccines are given in 3 different boosters separated by 3 weeks time. We would advise against all dog parks until your puppy is fully vaccinated with all 3 boosters to prevent the possibilities of picking up Parvovirus or any other serious illnesses. Puppies have weak immune systems and can easily contract parasites, bacteria and worms. It is very important that you follow up with your vet to get the 2nd and 3rd boosters.

Before bringing your puppy home, make sure you are equipped with food/water bowls, a bed or preferably a crate for sleeping, food and some toys to occupy your new puppy! Those new teeth love to chew! So make sure you have some puppy-safe chew toys on hand. If you run into some training difficulties or need tips/tricks please reach out! We would love to help!

Most importantly, love your new puppy!! We absolutely love to receive updates, so feel free to share. We may even add you on social media to stay in touch!

If for any reason you can no longer care for your puppy please let us know. Obviously our goal here is to find permanent homes for our babies, but we understand that circumstances change. We ultimately want our puppies in good/permanent homes. If you can no longer provide that for your puppy we would love to help find him/her a new permanent home, with someone who is very familiar with the breed and willing to give them a forever home. We would never wish for any of our puppies to end up in a shelter or home where the puppy/dog was not wanted.
